“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” -Helen Keller
Dear Caregivers,
We understand that being a parent of a child with behavioral struggles is a lifelong journey and sometimes it can feel like you're on that journey alone. At Alpha School, we invite you to become an active part of your child's educational team and emphasize the importance of regular and meaningful communication. You are the the experts on your child's needs and we place great value on the role of caregivers and families in the lives of our students.
Alpha School Staff also acknowledge the need for improvement of behaviors at home and are available to offer advice, help problem solve, and assist in located community resources to improve functioning and reduce familial stress. Caregivers are also encouraged to attend monthly “Caregiver Meetings” where they can learn about parenting techniques, behavioral interventions, and resources relevant to their child. Caregivers come to share a free meal, personal experiences, and gain a new perspective on their child.
Below you will also find various links to common diagnoses of our students, typical questions asked by caregivers and other concerns posed by Alpha School parents over the years. Please feel free to contact one of your Alpha School Social Workers if you have any questions or concerns.
